If you’re crazy about photography, mountains, tiny narrow alleys, colours and genuinely nice people, you’ll fall in love with Chefchaouen Morocco. Just like I did! Chefchaouen is so much more than what we see on Instagram though. You know what I mean! Most of what I’ve seen are shots from the flower street and the blue doors. I’m not saying that they’re not adorable, they absolutely are which is why you’ll see some shots here from them too. But there’s way more to Chefchaouen! and the shots below are my modest attempt of showing you that.
My photo inspiration diary
This is the view of the main square from the terrace of the restaurant Casa Aladin. Even on a slightly grumpy day, the view was simply incredible.
Sometimes all you need is one photo to get a feeling of what the medina (old town) really is like. Full of color, locals’ crafts and people everywhere, it’s pretty hard to have a quick breeze through this place and just leave.
On the scale from 1 to 10 how much do you absolutely love this little front door? I vote 10! I couldn’t stop admiring how tiny and round this door was. And YES, it was just someone’s front door!
This is one of my most favorite shots from Chefchauoen because it shows so so nicely what a regular street in the old town looks like. With the cool door, the art and the traditional for sale clothes, this was just one example of how unique each alley is!
The view from the top of the Spanish mosque hill is pretty hard to explain in a few words. Which is why I had to take A LOT of photos to show you just so I don’t have to put it into words which will never give it enough justice. All I wanted when I saw this view was to have more time to go up the very final point atop of this mountain! One of the many reasons I’ll be going back to Chefchaouen 🙂
Because I have too much to show you, here is one more.
You wouldn’t believe I’ve been to Chefchaouen if I don’t snow you at least one cat photo 😀 If you’re allergic to cats though think twice before heading to Chefchaouen without your allergic pills. THEY ARE EVERYWHERE! And I mean this quite literally 😀 They’ll be sitting next to you at your restaurant table, they’ll be in your feet whilst you’re buying your orange juice and will definitely be meowing at you with all the cuteness they’ve got to get a piece of your freshly bought pastry 😀 So watch out!
This was the view from one of the highest points in town. You gotta go up and up and up until you see these views. It’s a lot of stairs if you start in the main square but trust me, seeing this with your own eyes is well worth the effort.
The real beauty of the old town is that pretty much every little bit of it is so so different that you never get bored from just wandering around. We must have walked some of the streets dozens of times and the one pictured below is for sure one of them. But how could we not when it’s so beautiful!
If I didn’t tell you this was in Chefchaouen, you probably wouldn’t have known this is in there. The waterfall, all the green fields and mountains, I sure didn’t know of this side of Chefchaouen before I went there. It sure is a special part of town.
And last but surely not least, here is the so popular Flower street. You will have seen this shot hundreds of times but seriously who goes to Chefchaouen without taking a shot here 😀 And soak up some sunshine like me in this photo.
This is just a tiny percent of the hundreds of photos I took in Chefchaouen but I really hope they’ll inspire you to visit.

Thank you so so much Molly! I really appreciate your positive feedback. It really means a lot 🙂 In terms of optimisation, I only really put efforts into opmitising for Google and Pinterest so I’m not actually sure what the magic was that managed to get this particular post listed on Yahoo News.
